Charlie’s Super Fantastic Photo Tip of the Day: Start off the day in program mode if you are not sure what you are going to photograph. This way when you pull it out of your bag to take that once in a lifetime image, you can at least snap a few images that appear close to perfect. Then if you have time you can read your histogram and expose properly.
Sometimes luck just lines up for you, however you still need to be there to compose the image. Tony did a great job catching the action and now has a one of a kind image. After reading his story check out his great blog and portfolios below.

The photo was taken while on Safari in Kenya in February 2010, at the Samburu Nature Reserve. At the time I did not consider photography a hobby, I was just someone who took photos on holiday or as a record of family events. I purchased a half decent camera prior to going on holiday – a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ38, and that was used to take this photo ( I don’t mind admitting that at that stage the majority of my photos were taken with the camera set on auto!). Since then I have purchased my first DSLR – a Canon 1100D.
With the giraffes, I had simply turned round and seen them and realized what a good shot it would be.
On return from holiday I was pleased with the results and decided to take photography up as a hobby and joined Maidenhead Camera Club in Sept 2010.
The photo has recently been picked up by the UK National Press and was reproduced in the Daily Mirror and Daily Mail on Saturday 19th May (scans of the pages can be viewed here: http://tonysphotos.eu/Published%20Work.htm ), as well as on the online editions of the Daily Telegraph and The Sun).
